Coffee Pie®

About us

Coffee Pie® "Circular Technology Within Your Reach"

We are a colombian technology startup of type BIC (Benefit and Collective Interest), which aims to democratize computing power and significantly reduce electronic waste worldwide, thanks to an innovative business model that abstracts and simplifies all the complexity for convenience and benefit of the users, solid intellectual property and several patents pending issuance, along with a growing community and open source ecosystem of peripherals, modules, expansion cards, display devices, batteries, switches, keycaps and software, compatible with products and apps of several reputed brands we love and recommend, like Framework™, Keychron™, Razer™, Womier™, Lofree™, Microsoft™, Platzi™, etc, so that any manufacturer, developer or enthusiast who desires, can implement their own modules, accessories or apps for the "machines" (ISA Backend: x86-64 / QEMU: ARM and RISC-V), in a transparent and royalty-free manner, as long as those connect to our exclusive QFDM system (patent NC2025/0012723), comply with the social and environmental standards to eradicate electronic waste (zero e-waste policy), mainly through leasing, subscriptions, repair and recycling at the end of their products lifespan.

Our Dream:

That every human being on the face of earth has a networked terminal, from which they can access all of humanity's knowledge, study, work, write, develop, program, compile, design, compose, edit, calculate, communicate, collaborate, start a business, sell, play, analyse, research, create and bring all their projects to life, but without generating a single gram of e-waste.

Our Solution:

Consists of an innovative platform with asset control, in which we offer a flexible computing service within everyone's reach through a patented system and a device apparently similar to a traditional keyboard, tablet, smartphone, etc, but with a series of electronic circuits and interfaces that allow users modularity, flexibility and have all the computing power they need, whenever and wherever they need it, without paying extra. Additionally, we are building a network of corporate clients interested in advertising, who pay indirectly for the users who can't or don't want to pay for the service, which make its use "virtually free" for the end user, also known as "spectator" (in exchange for watching ads on-demand).

Our Value Proposition:

It is divided into three parts, first, our users gain access to a computer with flexible capacity through a kind off "magic keyboard", known as codec terminal or Commander™, which replaces the classic computer and cable TV, but is maintenance-free, doesn't over-heat, doesn't generate noise and doesn't need to be replaced every 2 or 3 years, but it must be returned at the end of its use or life cycle so that electronic waste is not generated, we will take care of tune up, repairing, remanufacturing or recycling it, depending on its condition and wear. Second, our corporate clients receive massive and highly segmented advertising digital spaces towards spectators that are of interest to the purposes of their organization through our API, in a public and transparent manner. Third, subscribers who don't want or cannot afford to watch ads and prefer to pay for a credit package, receive an experience practically identical to having a desktop or laptop PC, but without maintenance, without overheating, without noise, without paying for that they don't use and without polluting the environment with e-waste, like a cybercafe, but from the comfort of their home, office or public space with internet access.

Our Clients:

Our clients are a productive and pragmatic audience, basically anyone who needs from one, to n computing instances. This audience is clearly segmented into five types of users:

1) Advertisers - Coffee Pie® Ads (B2B): High-net-worth corporate clients who want to save money on their computing infrastructure while promoting their products and/or services by paying for highly targeted advertising space, optimizing their investment in digital marketing and advertising, directly from their marketing department or through publishers, generally experts on advertising, market segmentation, digital marketing, etc.

2) Subscribers (B2C): Clients with or without an organizational structure, who cannot afford interruptions (ads) or are not interested in contracting advertising, but are interested in weekly, monthly or annual validity credit packages.

3) Public Sector (B2G): State-subsidized users, primarily educational institutions and some NGOs.

4) Internet Service Providers (ISP): These are intermediaries in communication via optical fiber, satellite, copper or any other method, who wish to provide codec terminals ⌨️ to their users along with their internet subscription, so that they don't have to purchase a traditional computer, thus increasing the access and the demand of the service.

5) Manufacturers: These are organizations and companies in the manufacturing sector that develop products compatible with our technological ecosystem through leasing or subscription, but that don't have their own repairing and recycling infrastructure. We offer them services such as preventive and corrective maintenance, tune up, repair, remanufacturing, recycling and/or final disposition, so their devices won't end polluting the environment.

Our Goal:

By 2030 reach 100 million users across all American continent, minimizing electronic waste related to computing industry by 90%, making an initial public offering (IPO) on the Colombian Stock Exchange (BVC), so that virtually any individual, organization or company can contribute with their "grain of sand" and be part of this wonderful project. By 2040, we will reach 1 billion users worldwide. By 2050, we will guarantee access to an internet-connected terminal for every human being on the Earth's crust.

Macro Roles

• Owner Company: This is the company that owns 51% or more of the stock market shares and therefore has control and decision-making authority over the Coffee Pie® Ecosystem's intellectual property (examples of potential owners and/or shareholders: EPM™, Microsoft™, Oracle™, IBM™, Apple™, AMD™, Intel™, Nvidia™, ARM™, Starlink™, Millicom™, América Móvil™, Huawei™, Dell™, Lenovo™, HPE™, Supermicro™, Gigabyte™, AsRock™, AST Space Mobile™, etc.).

• Operating Company: This company is responsible in its country for the optimal operation of the technological ecosystem, the billing, hiring and managing trained personnel, and the logistics for the delivery and collection of nodes, codec terminals, accessories, and peripherals, preventing them from ending up in landfills and ensuring, as far as possible, their repair, remanufacturing, refurbishment, or ultimately, their dismantling for recycling (this may be the owner company itself or a function outsourced to another company or companies, as determined by the owner company).

• Partners/Allies (Providers): These are organizations and companies with considerable underutilized structured hardware capacity (server room/data center) that are willing to earn conservative profits above the national average cost plus a margin based on the Tier Level and the use of renewable and/or alternative energy sources (Tier I: +8%. Tier II: +10%. Tier III: +12%. Tier IV: +15%. Tier V with SAN + 100% Renewable and/or Alternative Energies: +18%) according to capacity/time supplied, following the standardized definition of the "Quanto" or Coffee Pie® portion. These must comply with strict physical and digital security protocols, with robust cooling systems such as liquid cooling connected to HVAC. If you have a commissioned datacenter or under construction, contact us directly for guidance on becoming a provider, you can now profit on the unused infrastructure.

• Publishers: These are expert intermediaries between advertisers and the operating company. They are those who are familiar with the offer and are willing to bid in the users requests auctions (biddings), using the user's public segmentation profile, without sharing their personal data in any way (example of publishers: Alphabet™ Ads, Meta™ Ads, Bing™ Ads, X™ Ads, TikTok™ Ads, Netflix™ Ads, etc). The company that makes the highest bid is displayed to the user (bid per impression).

• Advertisers: These are organizations/companies that wish to advertise directly without going through publishers. That is, they pay to display their product, service, or message to a highly targeted public, but without the specialized segmentation optimizations that publishers usually offer (advanced knowledge in digital marketing and market segmentation are required).

Micro Roles

• Super Admin: These are expert technical support leaders from the operating company with extensive knowledge of the ecosystem, capable of quickly detecting and solving serious problems for proper and optimal operation. They are generally systems engineers, technologists, or technicians with extensive experience in systems, capable of giving talks on computer security and performing consensual and anonymous pentesting (ethical hacking).

• Technical Support: These are technicians with extensive knowledge of systems who provide support to suppliers, customers and end users.

• Admin: This is the individual in the end-customer organization who allocates budgets and makes purchasing decisions, generally in an administrative or financial position.

• IT Admin: This is the individual in the end-customer organization with the technical knowledge to manage user accounts, allocate hardware resources, administer computer networks, and back up data.

• User (Spectator): Is the one who makes direct use of the service from a codec terminal ⌨️

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is Coffee Pie®?

A: Coffee Pie® is an open technological ecosystem that provides a general-purpose computing service, like an "internet café" or "cybercafé", but from the comfort of your home, office, or public space with internet access, with flexible capabilities, no maintenance, no heat, no significant noise, and without generating a single gram of e-waste.

Q: How is Coffee Pie® different from other cloud services?

A: The main differences are that cloud providers traditionally only offer you space to store your files. If they offer more than that, you need technical knowledge and programming skills to use them. They also lock you into a specific capacity, monthly or annual subscriptions with permanence clauses, and require you to purchase a computer or device, which is already expensive and easily obsolete, just to access their service. While our service, on the other hand, offers you a complete computer of variable capacity, with processor, memory, storage, graphics card, power supply, etc, which you can access from a codec terminal (rental or loan), with a circular, modular, repairable, recyclable approach, with a simple graphical interface, without need for technical knowledge, or the purchase of expensive equipment, paying just for what you really need, without subscriptions or ties, since our service is completely flexible, prepaid and on demand, and even free if you are willing to watch ads from time to time (free service tier).

Q: Can I change the capacity of my machines?

A: Yes, you can easily increase the capacity of your machines at any time or whenever your needs increase, but it will consume proportionally more credits. However, if you want to reduce the capacity of your machines, you'll have to create a new machine with the capacity you need and transfer only the data that fits. Imagine you have a 5 oz glass full of water, you can pour it into another 5 oz or larger glass, but you can't pour it into a smaller than 5 oz, as it would spill, this means you would lose information that only you as its owner can determine its relevance.

Q: What operating system does Coffee Pie® use?

A: No single operating system is used. The "default machine" uses Linux Mint (Cinnamon), due to its lightweight, low resource consumption, ease of use and wide software offering. However, the users can mount other free systems such as Debian, Steam OS, Arch, Manjaro, Bodhi Linux, Fedora, etc, or proprietary systems such as Microsoft Windows™, Mac OS™, Red Hat Enterprise™ (RHEL), etc, as long as they have an original license and the "installation image" (.iso files).

Q: Where does the name Coffee Pie® come from?

A: The name is primarily inspired by two things, the coffee, Colombia's symbol and main export, representing its hardworking, thriving and resilient culture. An the pie slice, due to the patented QFDM system, representing the quantized fractional distribution of computing power, that is to say in homogeneous, indivisible and groupable "portions" or "slices", which optimizes the use of computing resources and minimizes the amount of electronic waste (zero e-waste).

Q: How does Coffee Pie® contribute to sustainability?

A: Coffee Pie® promotes the circular economy through its patented QFDM system which optimizes the use of computing resources and reduces the electronic waste, plus the use of highly modular, repairable and recyclable devices, thereby avoiding the generation of waste and extending the lifespan of all our devices to the maximum. Under no circumstances will we tolerate Planned Obsolescence in our technological ecosystem, as it is precisely what we aim to avoid with this project.

Q: What materials are used in Coffee Pie®-compatible devices?
A: Recycled and recyclable materials such as Aluminum, Copper, PET, PC, etc, as well as low-impact components like PCR are all prioritized to align with sustainability principles.

Q: Does Coffee Pie® use recycling processes at end-of-life of the devices?
A: Yes, Coffee Pie® implements circular systems for its certified devices for return, assessment, preventive and corrective maintenance, refurbishment, repair, remanufacturing, or recycling, highly contributing to the reduction of electronic waste.

Q: How much does a Terminal Codec cost?

A: Codec Terminals are NOT for sale to general public, as they are fixed assets of the owner company. They are loaned mainly to internet services providers, so their users can access the service replacing the old television decoders. However, they must be returned to the company once no longer needed or when changing the operator, so ideally, you should ask your ISP to provide you with the codec terminals you need for your organization or home. You can also lease them monthly or yearly from our Store, or leave a refundable deposit.

Q: What's more convenient, a deposit or a lease for Coffee Pie® equipment?

A: If your ISP can't lend you the equipment and you need service for less than 2 years in a row, it may be more convenient to lease the equipment. However, if you need the service indefinitely, it's usually better to leave a refundable deposit, as it only depreciates at a rate of 5% E.M., and we'll refund between 10% and 90% of the deposit based on its condition and wear. If you have a credit card that charges low interest, you could use it to pay the deposit and, once you return the devices, pay off the debt with the refund plus interests. Therefore, in practice, the cost of our hardware is very low. This is because our "core business" is providing services, not selling hardware.

Q: How much does the service cost?

A: We have a free service tier, where you can watch Ads On-Demand (See Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy), but if you don't want to watch ads nor experience interruptions, you can also purchase flexible packages with fixed amount of credits valid for weekly, monthly or annual periods from the Pricing page or from the platform via a codec terminal.

Q: Are there any service permanence clauses?

A: No, the service is completely prepaid and on-demand. There are no recurrent subscriptions, just flexible packages with more or fewer credits and validity time based on the size of your needs, so you can use them on the Platform how, when, and where you need them. You can also watch ads on-demand, so the service is virtually free and without any permanence clauses.

Q: How can I get access to a Coffee Pie® compatible codec terminal?
A: You can get a codec terminal through internet Service Providers (ISPs), through our store or authorized third parties stores based on a lease or refundable deposit scheme, depending on the options available in your region.

Q: What should I do if my assigned terminal fails?
A: In the event of a failure, you can contact Coffee Pie® technical support for assistance, or guidance if you need to replace it. Additionally, since these are modular devices, depending on the source of the failure it's very likely you may be able to replace specific components without asking for a new terminal.

Q: Can I use a Coffee Pie® terminal anywhere?
A: Yes, as long as you have access to a stable internet connection, you can use a Coffee Pie® terminal in any location that supports the service. However, please note that high latency may impact your experience, the further away you're from the datacenter, the higher the latency. Check with your internet service provider (ISP) the latency of their service, ideally with responses below 20ms.

Q: What happens if I no longer want to use the service?

A: You must contact us and state that you no longer require the service. Our staff will instruct you to place the devices in a cardboard box with a laser-printed label and take it to a partner courier office (Servientrega, Coordinadora, TCC, etc). Once the package is received, the condition of the devices will be assessed and any applicable maintenance and repair costs will be deducted (View Returns & Refunds Policy). If you left a deposit, those costs will be deducted, and the difference will be credited to the authorized account (bank certification is required). If you wish to completely unsubscribe, you can request it, and we will delete all your personal information from the system and your public profile from our API, with the exception of security logs for cybercrime traceability, as required by law, such information will only be shared with the corresponding authorities with a valid court order issued by a judge.

Q: What happens if I don't have internet at home or at my office?

A: To be able to provide the service you must have internet access, if you don't want or can't afford to pay for an internet subscription, you can go to a cybercafé, to an educational institution or to a public library to check if they have free internet access or if they have available terminals that they can lend you. You can also get a 5G module in our store or in third-party stores, which will allow you to connect to a low-latency mobile network, if you already have one of these subscriptions.

Q: Can I modify my assigned codec terminal?

A: You can change superficially all the modules, accessories, switches and keys to your liking, but modifying the internal electronics is DANGEROUS, doing so could generate an interruption in the service, harm you due to electrical shock or even cause a fire, so the only thing you should NOT modify is the internal electronics of the devices, unless you're the manufacturer or a certified technician certified by Coffee Pie® for such task. Coffee Pie® will not be responsible for any harm caused by the fullish or inadequate use of the service and its devices.

Q: What is the QFDM system?

A: QFDM, from: "Quantized, Fractional, Distribution and Management System", is a patented on-demand computing management system that enables dynamic distribution by demand quantization through a series of devices known as codec terminals, plus supply fractionation and instantiation. In simple terms, imagine a large computer like an airplane, and each seat in that airplane as a "slice" of that big computer; You wouldn't consider "buying an airplane" for a couple trips, just one ticket each time you need it, several tickets if you're traveling with someone or need more space to store your luggage (files). In this case, the QFDM System would be the equivalent of the "Airport", where airlines (datacenters) operate with their airplanes (servers), together abstracting all its complexity, high investment, operation, maintenance and marketing costs, dividing them in thousands of small slices (seats) for providing a simple, affordable and accessible service for great benefit of the users and the environment.

Q: What are isostatic computing resources?

A: They are private resources, allocated and isolated at the time of instantiation, primarily persistent memory, and only their owner can access them under normal circumstances, such as an apartment in a condominium.

Q: What are isodynamic computing resources?

A: They are common resources used on-demand and shared among all active users on the Node (level/floor), giving priority to users with large, medium, small credits packages, and finally, spectators (users who watch ads on-demand in the free tier of the service), such as the common areas in a condominium.

Q: What is a Coffee Pie® slice?

A: It is the minimum standardized unit of computing capacity on our platform, which can be added or combined together to form more powerful and capable machines. A slice consists of:

Tech Spechs Coffee Pie® Slice:
